The government of India took an initiative of making the employees do a mandatory saving which was called as Employee Provident fund. As a part of the process, a part of the EPF is contributed by the employee and the remaining by the employer. This amount can be withdrawn after retirement and can be used during the years when a person is not working but it can also be withdrawn earlier in case there is a requirement for example for marriage purpose, or for education of children etc.
To know how much they have accumulated and how much can they withdraw, the people ought to know the balance of their EPF. With the advent of technology, this is very much possible to check the balance online. There are however multiple ways to know the balance online, such as:
On the website of EPF – https://www.epfindia.gov.in/site_en/index.php, check at the right hand corner which says e-Passbook. Once you click on this link you will be redirected to a new page wherein you would need to enter your UAN Number, Password and Captcha Code. Login and you will be land on the page which prompts you to enter Member ID. Enter the detail as required and you would be able to access your EPF Passbook in PDF format. You can download, print or save the same.
Please note – This facility is only available to the members who are registered on the Member portal.
You would only be able to view your passbook after 6 hours of registration
UMANG App also allows you to check your EPF balance. Download the app from the Play store and register yourself and select Employee Centric Services under EPFO Services. Punch in your UAN number and the OTP and you would be able to check your EPF passbook on your mobile screen.
Using these two methods, you can check the balance of your PF online.
